Our Cause

Christ’s College has a tradition of educating boys to be men of character and confidence, inspired to make positive and lasting contributions to their communities. In order to maintain this tradition, the educational experience we provide must be relevant and meaningful.

The stakeholders to whom we spoke expect College to enhance its reputation - nationally and internationally - as an outstanding school in all aspects.

College realises it requires innovation and excellence in the following areas, selected to take College into the future:

Enduring values and scholarship opportunities

At College, education is, above all, about the development of character. By holding fast to our faith-based foundations, our pastoral support and our leadership development, College offers an education that resonates with many. For every boy who aspires to attend Christ’s College, we would like to offer that opportunity.

Outstanding staff

At College, education is a human process, reliant above all on the interaction between the boys and their teachers. To continue to be recognised as an outstanding school, College must ensure it retains and attracts outstanding staff, and creates motivational development and learning opportunities for their professional growth.

Innovative learning programmes

At College, we are transforming education from a focus on teaching to a focus on learning. College must ensure it is at the forefront of this transformation, acknowledged for its innovative learning programmes.

An inspiring environment

At College, education is more than informational, it is inspirational. This begins for each boy on the day he walks through the front gates for the first time. College must preserve, enhance, and continue to develop the inspiring physical environment we have inherited. Proposed new buildings will take College to a new level.

Academic and Co-curricular Programmes

Academic and co-curricular programmes keep College at the forefront of education. By directing your contribution to their establishment costs, you will enhance College's reputation for innovative teaching and curriculum development through leadership.

Building new facilities

Recognising that growth on our existing site is constrained, our Master Plan takes College beyond the gates in to the city.

Science Centre

The new Science Centre will be within the current College grounds on the site of the existing gymnasium and science block which will be demolished as they no longer provide appropriate teaching spaces for today's requirements and future curriculum direction. The Centre will provide an exciting new learning environment to teach the pure sciences, and to explore cross-curriculum project learning and innovation, accentuated by the stunning views over Hagley Park.

Music Learning and Performance Centre

Connecting the existing College grounds with the new Sporting Excellence Health and Wellbeing Centre, will be the new music facility. This will be an aesthetically pleasing building that relates to its surroundings. With a streetscape focus it potentially shares the internal music environment with external performance opportunities and community use.
